Sue Thank you all so very much for your help at the moment I'm on cloud nine, my family has been searching for along time, not only have I now got my fathers family but thanks to the person who put a web address on here for dorset church records i have also found my gggrandparents on my mothers side. so sorry for saying it again but a BIG thank you to all. John William Bromley born 1883 in Grimsby Lincolnshire was the son of James and Mary Ann Bromley. He had 7 brothers and sisters. His birth is as follows: District: Caister Quarter: June Volume: 7a Page: 680 I have more information on his family in the 1891 census if you want it. Regards Gary

Hi Have found this on the war graves commission site any use? In Memory of J W BROMLEY Serjeant 14/284 14th Bn., York and Lancaster Regiment who died on Monday 17 July 1916 . Karen If yes the web page is www . cwcg . org take out the space If it is your man then you can write to the army and get the details off them. fingers crossed Karen

Thanks everyone for all your encouragement here goes and this is all I have his name was John William Bromley(serjeant) 14th Bn yorks and Lancaster Regiment he was born 1883 died on monday 17th July 1916 france. Left his wife Alice Macey nee Crowson (louth lincolnshire) and one son James Henry DoB1910he he was born in Nottingham/Cleethorpes/Grimsby. I don't know who is parents were and can't find records of him or alice except that alice died in 1918 in the flu epademic in Louth.and thats were I'm stuck folks.if you can help I would be most gratefull. Sue

Susan I was helped the other day to find my grd father and grt grd father, l had searched the sites with no luck,but 2 other people found them for me.So keep trying.Good luck!! Jude(s.wales)

I think you are very wise! I've been in that situation many times and it's funny how our lost relatives sort of creep up on us (metaphorically speaking or course!) when we least expect it , I've found several when I've been looking for someone else! Regards Maxine

Hi Don't Give Up, It took me months to find to where my great great grandmother was in 1891, they were'nt at any address that I had for them. An SKS eventually found them for me living in Haughton, Lancs. George

I would like to thank everyone for their kind offers of help. But so far everything I have tried to trace my Great Grandfather has led me to that famous brick wall so for now I will try some of the other members of the tree.and maybe come back to him. Thanks again to you all for your kindness. Sue
