No problems. I managed to get some bishops transcripts but no marriage. Records for deaths would have to be the registrars over here. I'll keep my eye open. John

Hello John Ferguson, I keep reading your last letter, I am positive that the Bannocks of Birmingham/Gloucester are nothing to do with Bannock of Colchester. As I said, Warminster is where his death was registered in 1945.Many thanks for your help. Do keep in view, I might be back, Derek

The Bannock I found on BMD fiches in the library had only the the William I sent. I looked 1 year either side of suspected birth. Only 1 other Bannock which was female, I forget the name but was at least 2 forenames. Perhaps yours,if different, was not registered? I have found this with some of mine. I saw the 1 from Colchester too but thought Birmingham was nearer to Birmingham. The S could be irrelevant, my surname is FERGUSON but my ggfather was spelt FERGERSON. I hope I haven't put the cat amongst the pigeons here!!!! John PS I love the heat and a nice Bordeaux helps.

Thanks John, I hope we are talking about two different people. No 's' on Bannock,Frederick William, born Colchester 6/4/1873, a shoe/boot worker in 1901 census at Clacton(Essex), administered father's will 1922 in Colchester and disappeared, zilch, except the 1837 death entry found last week, Derek PS its still b*****y hot here for holidays

I don't know if you have got any of this info. but her's what I found. You may already have. Walter Frederick Bannock born Dec 1874 Gloucester 6a 301 so obviously no use looking in Warminster etc for birth. I don't know if you found him on the census but here he is with an 's' in his name. Walter Bannocks 26 Gloucester Marble mason. Perhaps that may help find children? Do you know his wife's name? I tried looking in church marriages for him inWarminster but with no joy. Doesn't mean to say he is not there as some are damaged. I think he got married elsewhere though. He must have moved to Warminster after 1901. Cheers, John

Thanks for coming back to John and William. For John, I'd like to know just about anything, especially if he had a business/shop, a wife, children-because after a reference in 1922, we know nuttin'.He was my grans eldest brother, thanks, Derek PS you never know!

Hi, You may be in luck. I live 2 minutes away from the Wilts. record office so may be able to help. 1 thing though, what exactly is it you wish to know? Give me details of what you know as well. John PS the cost is a minimum of 7 nights for two in the South of France. lol

From the 1837Online site, I have found a death entry for Frederick W Bannock, aged 72, 2nd Qtr 1945, 5a p156. Being in South of France, obviously not easy to look up Records Office in Warminster. Can anyone help from this town, any alternative suggestions welcomed. By the way , gobsmacked at the amount of help offered on this site. regards new, but 'old' boy, Derek Harridence
