SuSan really pleased thank you, I tried that site and it came up with Gores Directory 1829,although it was a bit earlier than I was looking for,it looks as if I might have found gg granddads Father and Uncle.Cant yet find a directory for L/Pool any later than that still looking hard Thanks Again Kathleen

Kathleen You could try historicaldirectories(.)org. Search for the name and it will give you all the hits in the trade directories for various parts of the country. My gt-grandfather carrier/haulage was listed in one of the Northamptonshire directories. Good luck. Sue

My grandfather was a businessman in Liverpool at about this time annd I got info from the Kellys business directory. Anice kind soul from this site did a look up for me

Can anyone offer advice on where I might find out more info on gg grandfathers haulage buisness.Have found out they traded in Liverpool for many years until outbreak of WW2.Have been given address of where they had stables,but cant find out any more,many thanks Kathleen
