hi An ancestor of mine was the victim of a robbery in 1839. Amazingly a distant cousin of mine found the prosecution brief of the court case in the hands of a second hand dealer. Thanks to a SKS I found the case in the assize records at the PRO. The result was listed as 'No Bill'. Does this mean Case Dismissed or what? any help gratefully received George |

I don't suppose it could mean that the police were not involved? No I don't think so either. |

Will ask my hubby and get back to you ASAP-he's a police officer so will know for sure. Not in 'til 12 mn, so will have to be tomorrow. hope this is ok? Colette |

Just text my hubby with your question-to my surprise he replied, so here goes: it almost certainly means no bail, which means that the perpetrator would have been remanded in custody at the end of the case. Colette |
