I use Free BMD and 1837 online, however I wonder if people realise that you can get BMD on microfiche from your local library, usually the reference library. The years vary, mine only goes to 1941, but some go up to the 1980's. The plus is that it's free. I know some people can't get there but I just send as a tip. Hope it helps.

Hi david I got the 1881 census bit. I looked up barnett but cant find anyone called Elizabeth Barnett born around 1845. Gonna save up the penny's and take a trip to Allerton bywater as that's where she will be buried to find out her death. Also gonna save up for the 1837 site too. Thanks to you both

Hi Jessica, The IGI shows William Starkey married Elizabeth Barnett on 2/7/1865 at Cubbington. I have had no luck with a date of death. The 1881 census shows William & Elizabeth living in Allerton Bywater, York with their 4 sons, 1 daughter and a lodger (Starkey). Dave

Hi jessica, Have you tried 1837 online. As you know the year and area william Starkey was born you might be able to find an index for the marriage. The certificate would give you the wife's maiden name.

Hi everyone Im trying to find the maiden name of Elizabeth Starkey and when she died. I know she was born around 1845 probably in Coventry. She married WILLIAM STARKEY 1865 in Warwickshire (cubbington). I know she died in Allerton Bywater so that comes up as tadcaster district. I've searched Free BMD but have had no luck and IGI doesn't help either. If anyone can find her maiden name and when she was born i'd be VERY grateful. Thank you!!!!!
