Has anyone tried to trace through the Public Carriage Office records for Cab Drivers and or owners c 1850 - 1900 ish. If so where are stored and do they contain much info. And does anyone have any other clue's on where records of London cabbie's for that time might be found. Thanks. |

I'm so glad Diane asked this! I have cabbies in my tree too, from the Clerkenwell/Islington/Holborn areas, so it would be most interesting to see if anything comes up. Could someone kindly send me a message please if it does, as I'm away for a few days and might miss the replies to this thread. Very many thanks Mary South Devon |

I'm off to the london Metropolitan Archive next week which may very well have this kind of info or be able to give clues as to where would. I'll ask one of the curators whilst I'm there for you and let you know what I come up with Zoe |
