i dont know my relations and im stuck please help

i've been completing my family tree for the past monthand have about 70 entries however now i am stuck as non of my family seem to remeber any names of other relatives as my families wernt very close or have deceased. how do i trace back names of my ancestors if i dont know who they are? any ideas would be helpful thanks sam |

Have you thought about getting birth certificates for the oldest relatives that you do know? Richard |

you can try looking at freebmd for marriages between your family names and if you find anything interesting you could pay to visit the 1837 online site where birth records might tell you a mother's maiden name you didn't know before.It only costs a fiver. If you can track back to 1901 or (even better) 1881 then you can get a better picture from available census data. The 1881 is free - of you need advice on accessing it please come back to me best wishes Ann |
