Thanks for the reply Christa. My Great Grandfather was George James Francis, and he was born about 1870 to 1880. The only other information I have is that he was living in Newport, South Wales, when my Grandfather was born in 1907, the youngest of 7. I have not had time to check the site out yet as I am off to work. Thanks again for your help. Pat

His name might be spelt wrong in the census. I have had big problems finding my great grandparents in the 1901 census. After someones advice on using "wildcards" (see message on guest book) I found them last night. Their surname was Dixon but on the 1901 site it was down as Dixen! Good luck Susan

Patricia, I think Elland is in 9a. You can find out here. http://www.fhsc.org(.)uk/genuki/reg/ On a separate note, you really don't want to put too many details in when searching, otherwise you will exclude a lot of results. Less in definitely more when performing searches. What's the name and age of the person you are looking for? Crista

I am having trouble searching for my great grandfather who lived in Elland, which is between Halifax and Huddersfield. I keep getting "no results" messages, and requests for the enumeration district. I am searching in the 1901 census and would like information on any internet sites that list this sort of information for England and Wales. Thanks in advance. Pat Stoyles Solihull West Midlands
