£22,141.35 I worked this out using the RPI figures on government website. www.statistics.gov.uk then have a trawl through the economics section. Don't spend it all at once! Janet

Hi, Yes, you've only got to read P.G Wodehouse (Jeeves) to see that someone then with an income, that is living on the interest, of 2 thousand could afford a life of leisure and even employ servants. Even when I started work in the mid 50s £10 a week £520 a year was a reasonable wage.

Found a site that works it out. And it says £1000 old money in 1941 would be worth £34734.90!! I never realised it would be that much!! Susan

What would £1000 in 1941, be equivalent to in 2003?
