Hi Tracey! That is a really kind offer! If you have a few spare minutes (or hours! LOL!) whilst you are there, I would be eternally grateful for any info you could find on a George Ramshaw born March (or quarter 1) 1899 in Gateshead or his father also George Ramshaw born 1866 (could be a year either way as that is from a census record) in Spennymoor Durham. Many, many, many thanks! Sally, Coventry |

To all of you, I will try my best for you, do any of you have an address at which they lived? I looked at the 1891 census yesterday and they are divided up into the streets of the area. That way it makes the search alot easier. Tracy |

Hi Tracy,I too am an expat living in Australia and would appreciate your help. According to my Fathers Birth Certificate dated MAY 1908, The Family Thomas Galloway Nichol, Mother Margaret Jane Nichol formerly Harrison, address 3 Dorney Street Gateshead. My Father William was killed in 2nd World War and I have no knowledge of his family. I would like to know if any family members show up on any electoral rolls or census records. It would help me a great deal if I could get a few more names. Thank you very much. Pat |

To Patricia Bonner You can check (your grandparents?) out on the 1901 census yourself and give Tracey more information to go on. (Just a thought). Tracey, I bet you're sorry you posted this now, you will be inundated with requests. LOL!! I almost asked for a lookup myself for my mother in law's family but I found the info I needed. Anyway, I may come back to you at a later date if that's ok. Lynne Sale CHS |

Patricia I just checked the 1901 census and there are only 2 Thomas Nichols, one aged 2 and the other aged 15. There are 4 Margaret Nichols aged 17, 24, 26 & 39 and 22 Margaret Harrisons, raging from 4 months to 68 years. Don't know if this helps you. Lynne |

Hi Tracy, That's a really kind offer. i've found some really helpful people already on this site--there is always an opportunity to offer help in return. I live in Herts, so if you need any research done here, let me know. My great grandfather was Simeon Palin, born 1871, died 1936. Simeon's wife, Minnie, was born in 1874, died 1952. Both lived in Whickham or Gateshead and in South Shields. Simeon was well known in the community as a charity worker, particularly for the Ingham Infirmary in South Shields. He lost an arm as a child in a train accident. He and Minnie had 8 children. I have most of the deatils of their children, but can't find Minnie's maiden name, or Simeon's parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |
