Hi Jim and Pamela i'm having that problem, am very new to all this and an searching for Knapps with Carters. I sussed a day or so ago that you could only get into names as on your tree. NOW - i've been reading messages from people who are having problems with putting names on or taking them off etc. so am very loathe to add to many to my tree in case i make a major c.up and cant then put it right.

Jim, You are quite right we should be able to put trying to find notices for any name, because we are not supposed to put living people on our trees without their permission and how can we do that if we cant find them to ask them? Also some people seem to be looking specifically for living relatives, who could have names quite different from the ones in their trees. But maybe you can get onto trying to find by clicking the connection for trying to find from this board and post any name, but would you then be able to read the messages on that name board? I dont know since I havent tried it. Pam

Hi Nichola, One thing you can't do is put a "Trying to Find" message on a board where you do not already have an individual on your tree with that Surname. I am attempting to get GC to offer this facility. Jim, (Roots in West Hartlepool) Gosport, HAM.

We over 60's have to stick together pet. Beryl, Darlington. DUR I know I should have posted this on members board sorry.

Nichola I believe you have been misinformed! If you want the Trying to Find Board then you need to go to your Names Summary and then select a name. You will then get another window with choices of Boards (ie. Trying to Find, History, General). Select Trying to Find and you will get the board for that surname and you can then add your own message. Hope you manage it. Lynne Sale CHS
