I dont know if this is any help to u but I do know that as far back as 1800 infant deaths were not always recorded, depending I think on how old they were. So do u think it mau be possible that the child died within his first year of life?

My gg spinster aunt had a child in 1881. I have found his baptism record and he is registered on the 1881 census. Then he vanishes. I can find no death/ burial or mention of him on any later census. His mother died unmarried and left no mention of the child in her will. Is it possible he was adopted? does anyone know if adoptions were registered that long ago. Thanks Helena
