Allison, Couldn't you put a message on Rootsweb or Cyndi's List site? Someone in the States may be researching the same name. Might turn up something. Beryl, Darlington DUR

Thanks for the tip however the family name was Lewis which is such a common surname that all resources throws back so many results and without more info I am unable to narrow it down any further. Thanks anyway. Allie.

Hi Allison Why not try the familysearch.org site. Instead of narrowing your search to the census details try doing a broader search on their 'All Resources'. They have links to the International Genealagical Index and Pedigree Resource files etc. I typed in just my surname and the relevant county and got over 3000 results which i was then able to narrow down to the relevant village. Doing this with a whole name and any country i also managed to track down distant relations in Lehi, Utah. Good Luck in your search Alison

I need some advice. I am trying to find some descendants of a G G Uncle who was taken to America in about 1831. He went there after his mother died by people I only know as Aunt and Uncle Jones which really narrows my search down. I found him and his family on the 1881 cencus but I am not sure how to go about finding any descendants of his. I have so many letters that were written between his son and my great grandmother that I'm sure would be of interest as they were family history orientated. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Allie. Shropshire.
