two names on 1837 census

if there are two names by the side of a marriage on the 1837 marriage census, does that mean the ladies maiden name and also her next married name, or maybe her mothers next married name! any one experienced this! help!! janet |

Janet It depends what year you are looking at. On later fiches the groom's surname is shown after the bride's name. Hope this helps. Lynne Sale CHS |

it is 1952, and it is shown for the lady against the mans name i double checked it for both lady and man janet |

Pamela Irving The actual site mentioned is 1837online where you can view copies (10p each view)of the fiches recording births, marriages and deaths. It's just another alternative to visiting the Family Records Centre and viewing the fiche itself to get the GRO reference which you need to order a certificate. Hope this explains. Lynne Sale CHS |
