Found missing family on 1901 census!

Deirdre, There's a James Bradshaw on the 1901 census, aged 31, born Lancs Ince, coal miner hewer. Is the guy you want? Regards, Andy

Some names can get really messed up by the transcription. If you have any possible addresses then I think you can now go direct to them with 1901. It might be that the only answer is to get to a library (or similar) and go through the films yourself. Martin

Deirdre have you tried being even more flexible with the surname, eg entering an asterix in place of letters? I searched for ages for my grandfather, John Henry Horner who was 10 in 1901. Then by chance I clicked on his grandfather to view the household & there he was with all his brothers & sisters. He was entered as Henry Hornes. I would still be searching today if I had not bought a voucher to view greater detail. Good luck Pat Frome, Somerset

Hi, Please let me know if you do find out. I have been having the same problem with some of mine. However I do have a George Proctor on my tree marked as living in a street in 1901, I even have his family names. I must have got them from the 1901 online. But now I cant find any trace of them on there!!!!. There is also the dreaded possibility that the ones we want did not register. AHHHHHHH. Helena

Thanks to Andy Cook, I have found the missing Bradshaw family. Daughters forename was misspelt, mother was born in Staffs instead of Lancs as I thought and they lived in a different place!
