Vera, Thank you SO much, I think you may be right! Guess the reason I did not locate anything was because the aforementioned marriage certificate showed the spelling Cartali with an I, which is the way my Mum also remembers it. Thanks again. Viv Reeves

Does anyone know how I can get to see the Greek census for mid 1800's? My Gt Gt Grandfather THEODORE CARTALI was a Greek shipping merchant. He had (as far as I know) 2 children ZOE THEODORE, and GEORGE. Zoe was my Gt.Grandmother. On her marriage cert. it shows her father was deceased in September 1889 and that she was living in CHESTERFIELD. I have all the Mormon CD's for 1881 census, but no mention of her anywhere before her marriage. My mother has told me that George lived in Manchester.
