How do I find out if someone divorced in the early 1900,s.I don't know for sure,but I was unable to trace my g grandfather on the 1901 census,but I may have found him,but married to someone else!any help would be much appreciated.

Barbara, It may be an error - my great grandfather appears on the 1901 with a wife called Elizabeth, 1891 Jane, 1881 Elishua - her birth name! I thought I had uncovered a well kept family secret - I was wrong! Good luck, Beryl.

Thanks,Beryl,but he didn't marry my g grandmother until 1907 and I found her,so maybe I could be clutching at straws,maybe he was somewhere else,I don't know where! Thanks again.

Barbara Try FreeBMD, you never know you might find another marriage for him, espeically if you know the area where he lived. It's worth a try. Lynne Sale
