Deaths in wartime

Does anyone know whether ordinary death certificates were issued for those killed in the two world wars? From what I have seen on the 1837 site, this is not the case. The Commonwealth War Graves site lists those killed, but sometimes the information is sketchy (e.g initials rather than first names), and I am not sure whether it is reliably complete. |

I checked on two family war deaths at the Scottish GRO for 1939/40. Their names were listed as deaths but the only document stored was a formal letter from the Merchant Navy stating the details for the various deaths as that time. It did give you date of death, cause of death and where burried. Hope that helps. |
