This isn't a tip as such, but an observation! I spent most of May 2001 filling in forms for the Census Office, collating what the Enumerators out in the field had collected. I've seen on the various boards the problems people have with enumerators' handwriting, so for the sake of future generations, I'm now very glad I was taught "proper" handwriting at school way back in the 40s and 50s!!!! I'm struggling with one of my grandfathers myself. His middle initial is M, but I can only find one whose middle initial is H, but the way some people form their capital letters, without two proper downward strokes in the M, just a connecting "wiggle" they could look similar. If I'm around to do the 2011census, I'll make doubly sure my writing is good!! Trouble is, there's a time limit and it was a massive task. Very enjoyable though!
