Mary and Laurie (as it happens) I was in the same situation as you Mary .I registered as a guest on Ancestry searched for the couple I thought might have been married in Scotland and the search came back with Midlothian Parish registers 1 hit with a little padlock next to it. I then used the Scots PRO site to find the marriage(you do have to pay for this but it narrowed the search)the guest membership unlocks some useful features and saves trawling round different sites but I do think it is too expensive to pay for full membership to Ancestry.
