I do wish we could find out more than just the approx. date, vol. and page number of someones birth. I have just spent at least three months tracking my great grandfather down. I've traced him from one census to another changing careers, having 5 daughters when obviously they wanted a boy, and I admit to shedding a tear when a boy was born, just 2 months after his father's death. Finally I was convinced I had the correct details to send for the birth certificate, but no the father's name is not the same as on the marriage cert. so its back to the drawing board!
