Free BMD. I am a little concerned by the number of entries suggesting that Free BMD. is superior to 1837online.com. I logged on to Free BMD and typed in three events, one birth, one marriage, and one death, all confirmed by certificates in my possession, and all prior to 1900. In every case, no matches could be found! I suspect that a vast amount of data is missing! Researchers should not therefore be disappointed if they cannot find what they are looking for. The 1837 site, though expensive if you don't know dates is at least reliable.
