Vera Report 27 Mar 2003 13:25

The 1827 online due on line April 1st I quote from the intro to this site: "Family Research Link is absolutely delighted to announce that on the 10th Feb 2003 after almost 3 years of ongoing discussions and negotiations with the General Register Office (GRO) the decision has been made to relax access to index indormation less than 100 years old." Further - "1837online.com is run by Family Research Link, a start-up company dedicated to providing high quality genealogical services to professional and non-professional researchers. Family Research Link is a sister company to Title Research, an independent business which has existed for nearly 40 years and provides probate and succession genealogy services to lawyers and corporate & public trustees around the world. Uniquely in its industry Title Research is endorsed by The Law Society of England & Wales to provide these services and is also certified by the British Standards Institute as an Investor in People ..... etc etc. As part of its day to day work Title Research used to make extensive use of the birth, death & marriage indexes held on microfiche. However some time ago the business took the decision to computerise these records. Once this process was completed we realised that it would be possible to make these records available to other interested partners over the internet.... etc." Personally I take this as accurate and am looking forward to seeing the site up and running. This can be viewed in full on their site under the headings 'About Us' and 'Intro'. Vera
