Thank you Moggie and Mumsy. I had traced his death, it's his birth I can't find. I have looked on various sites for him in Londonderry, but so far drawn a blank. Also I can't find his marriage to Louisa Houghey formerly Duncan. Still, I've come a long way from originally thinking he was born in Scotland!

Hi Gill It's a submitted record by a member of the LDS and these records are always suspect and open to error. I think you can safely say that Charles Henry Crowe knew where he was born and the member who submitted the record didn't. Maureen

My gt.gt.grandfather Charles Henry Crowe b. 1834 gave his place of birth as Londonderry, Ireland on the 1881 and 1891 census. He was retired from the Indian Army and died 05 February 1900. He appears on the IGI with the date of death correct, but as born in London. As no area of London is given, how would I trace him in the Parish Registers? I would appreciate any help, however small. Gill.
