I have just finished reading ' The Grave Tattoo' by Val McDermid, the theme is family research & the lead character is able to buy birth certs for people born BEFORE 1837...plus she was able to check the 2001 census for the whereabouts of someone she was keen to find !!!! IF ONLY IT WAS THIS EASY FOR THE REST OF US WHO HAVE TO DO IT THE HARD WAY.... RESEARCH & PATIENCE !!!! Margaret.

lmao... wow... someone didn't do a very good job of checking their facts did they?! lol I remember years ago starting to write my novel, it used family history as a theme (along with being a ghost story/murder mystery) and at the time I was relying on two very old books on the matter for the library. Even my version was more realistic than that and I didn't have the resources there are today. Maybe you should write to the publisher lol...it's very misleading.
