Can someone answer the following questions i have about IGI please? How can you tell if a record has been Submitted or is the original record that has been trancribed?? Also why are only some siblings listed on IGI i have 4 siblings and yet only 2 are listed, i have checked several areas for them even widening my search as far as possible to find the other siblings, but with no joy?? Thankyou Martin

All records on the IGI are identified as being 'submitted' by a member.......or extracted. The simple test is to scroll to the bottom of the entry.............if there's a batch number.....it's extracted. BUT.....it does give the info on every page!! Reg

Martin, Under each entry on the IGI it tells you wether they are 'submitted' or 'extracted' be very wary of submitted entries ,they are often not accurate. I like you have many families where only some of the children appear on the IGI, this could be for a number of reasons, they may not have been christened at all, it may have been in a different area, and remember none of these records are complete, so your very lucky if you find the entire family. I dont know what counties your looking at but some have online Parish records that are searchable go to UKBMD and you`ll find them all. Nicky

As for the 'missing' siblings........they could be in another area........or a different batch. You just have to persevere with the search.........not all transcribed records are on line at any one time..........you might find them next time you look,. Reg
