Hi all my family were in the iron works and I have not come accross Shingler but many were slingers Moira

SHINGLER - A roof tiler who used wooden tiles (shingles)

A slinger worked inside the iron works at the bottom of the crane. The would Sling the chains around the iron that had to be moved and then he would signal to the crane driver to move the iron, it could be iron bars or moulton iron in coldrons. Moira
