Stephen, you dont actually say what you want to know. If you are interested in Retford area - is that in Notts? - you could have a google to find out what its like and photos etc and possibly a local family history society. If George married in 1839 - have you bought his marriage cert for his fathers name and occupation? Is this the marriage? I am interested in the area of Retford. My family came from the villages to the east and many moved or worked in Retford. Is anyone able to give up some spare time to assist. My great grandad Samuel Pearson left the area when he joined the navy, he was born in Clayworth 1871. His dad Joseph was born in Clarborough 1840 and married Hannah Hackett in Cottam 1867. His dad George was born 1808 in Clayworth and married Harriet Hill in 1839. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
