Ancestry BMD index errors

Sorry if this has come up before but the indexing of these boards is not that hot! I can't be the only soul who's noticed that manuscript intercalated names at the foot of the official index pages have been used as 'last entry on page' in the Ancestry online index, even though they're NOT the last entry alphabetically. So, times without number, you get hits on only 3 quarters in the year and have to use a dummy surname, or thumb forwards or backwards, to find entries you know must be there. Are we ever going to get Ancestry to rectify this crazyness?

Surely, the people to ask are Ancestry............... But, with all the millions of records the deal with, a few glitches are no big deal. It doesn't cost any more to do the extra searches........once you've paid your subscription, that's it............ Reg

The indexes were created automatically using OCR (optical character recognition) and therefore only read the initials printed at the top of the page, so any subsequent amendments would not be taken into account. Also, some of the images were not too clear in the first place (they are from microfilm, not originals) which is why certain pages did not index correctly at all.
