Hi Fiona, naval ratings service records at TNA only contain info up to 1928. Ratings that joined before that date will have the earlier part of their service recorded in ADM 188 (which is what I presume you already have), records relating to his post 1928 service will be held by the Ministry of Defence. These are still closed to the public but information from them can be supplied to ex-servicemen or their next of kin. There is a charge but I'm not sure how much it costs. You would need to apply to Ministry of Defence, Naval Records Centre, DR2a (Navy Search), Room 31, Bourne Avenue, Hayes, Middlesex. UB3 1RF Tel: 0208 573 3831 Hope this helps, Gary.

I have found details of my Grandfathers Naval records from the National Archives, but this is held on paper form and a stamp on it says 'Record transfered to card as from 1 Jan 1929'. Does anyone know how I can find further records from this date please? Thank you
