Thanks Chris, Have spent some time searching but can only find any records of any 'epidemics' in 1918/19. however have found a link to rotherham local studies service. so have contacted them to see if they can shed any light on the subject. Martin

Martin Sadly you wouldn't be able to establish the cause of death without purchasing the certs. What you could try is a 'Google' search.... For example I put in '1902 epidemic death' it came up with a Smallpox outbreak in Leicester. You could try something similar giving the area where they died and trying alternative search criteria. It might help to establish a POSSIBLE cause of death. Chris

On a similar note, My grandmothers brother and 3 cousins all died within a fortnight of each other in 1902, as these are not all my direct line it could work out very expensive if i have to order every cert to work out how they died, they lived within a few hundred metre's of each other. can i find out how they died without ordering the certs??? Can i contact the local registry office for this info if i provide all reference's without actually ordering cert's. will the local LDS centre hold copies of the cert's??? Regards Martin

Hi, Take a look at the area in which they lived in and then google if there was a typhiod, smallpox or any other type of outbreak in the area at that time. Cheer Paul

Jet. You will need the parish records then to find the burials. the record may or may not say cause of death depends on how the parish usually recorded deatils

still not sure what you are looking for . pre 1837 you wont find them online and parish records may or may not say what they died of. Do you have medical terms you dont know what they are Have you any certs at all ? or are they all pre 1837
