Hi Michelle, Most libraries in the UK give free access to Ancestry on their premises. Before I took out my own sub, I used to do all my look-ups that way and email the census images to myself to print off at home. If you want to try before you buy, look out for the 30 or 14 day free trials. Although you have to give your credit card number, if you cancel before the end of the trial (by email or freephone), no money will be deducted. If you want to keep going, then you need do nothing. A recent GR thread mentions there is even a 20% discount on Ancestry annual membership at the moment. Tracey

Hi I'm just got this off of ancestry Pay-Per-View works on a pre-paid credit system where £6.95 for Pay-Per-View gives you 12 page view credits to use within 14 days. Pay-Per-View Vouchers give you 10 page view credits to use within 14 days. You can use these credits to view any historical records. Pay-Per-View is not available for use when searching OneWorldTreeSM or photos and records contributed by other Ancestry members, or when contacting other members anonymously through Ancestry’s Connection Service. These activities require a regular paid subscription. So it is not unlimited for that time - it's just gives you 12 views in that time! & you can't contact people !

I find the pay per view quite good actually. I only ever use this every few months or so as I can't afford the annual subscription. I think you usually get about 10 or 12 credits which you can use to look at the census pages and other stuff. Marie
