Thank you all for your comments. This is my first time back since I first wrote, and everything is working, so I am still undecided. Maybe I'll decide tomorrow when I find out if it still works! Thanks again Duncan

Yoiur membership of GR is unaffected - GR know you by what YOU have given them and is changeable by going to 'My Account Details' to the left of this screen. As for AOL, I was with them for many years but got very frustrated when I encountered the same problems as you are now experiencing ... and more. I found their Help line useless spending hours on the phone - or getting the same answers from their online techs which was exactly the same as you could get from reading through all their guff - only to find, some time later, that the problem cleared automatically (!!) probably after their programmers had finished doing whatever to upgrade their systems .......... and you could face the same elsewhere if you moved.

I am having no end of problems accessing sites, the reason seems to be that my ISP is AOL. They have wasted hours of my time the last couple of weeks, giving me things to try which don't work. Now I can't get on to Ancestry either, this is the last straw. Does anyone else have this problem with them, or am I just my usual lucky self? If I switch ISP, does anyone know how that will affect my membership of GR and Ancestry, which recognise me from my email address?
