There are some registry offices doing this already and lots more are planning to in the near future so i don't think there is a need for this petition

Anyone who has used the local indexes knows how invaluable this would be. It would solve the omissions and errors of the GRO. Any authorities not cooperating with UKBMD should be told to do so. All for it. Bob

There is a petition on the PM's website to require all Register Offices to make BMD's freely searchable online. A link can be found on the UK BMD site or I'll try to put it here http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/LocalBMDIndexing/
