When you upload a Gedcom it automatically overwrites your tree. If you want to load all your branches, then you will first need to merge them into a single file on FTM and then create a combined Gedcom Instructions for deleting parts of your GR tree are below. You have the option to delete the whole tree or an individual in your tree. You will not be able to remove yourself as the anchor to your tree, unless you follow the process for cancelling your registration. To remove an individual from your tree you need to select the name of the person to be removed and then click on the 'Delete relation' button in the edit tools section at the bottom of the My Family Tree page. You can only remove a name from your tree if it is at the top or the bottom or has no other branches attached to it. For example, you can remove the child of a relation. However, if you have added the wrong father, you would need to remove any children first before deleting him. You will see a message saying you cannot delete a relation if other names are attached to that person. You will need to look at your tree and either remove names from the bottom upwards or from the top down depending on where the relation is that you wish to remove.

if your tree is on genes reunited site then you can delete it all except for yourself and then start again You can remove your family tree leaving only your details, by selecting the 'Import/Export Tree' area from the left-hand side of the site and then scrolling down to the 'Delete your tree' area in the middle of the screen. Select ‘Yes’ (to the question 'You have requested to delete your entire tree and this will delete all entries apart from yourself - Do You Wish to Continue?') To remove your tree. Your request to remove your tree will be put in a queue and deleted shortly afterwards. The deletion is not instant. ok linda

Thanks Titus I'm not sure how to perform such a procedure, and would welcome some intructions. If you put it on top of what you already have on the Genes tree, does it just over-ride what was there before? Also, on my FTM I have each different branch of my family in a seperate file. Would an import still work under those circumstances? Many thanks LB

My tree is in a mess, I've been trying to tidy it up but haven't been very successful. I'd like delete it and start again but it won't let me delete myself or any direct ancestors. Also, some of the relationships in my tree are complicated - in one instance two Brett brothers married two Bayford sisters, the Brett mother's maiden name was also Bayford because she was the Bayford sisters mother's cousin! GR don't cater for that sort of relationship - what is the best way of recording that sort of thing? Thanks
