wendy, i managed to see minimal info on the 81 census such as ages. they are together in alphington, devon in 1881. they have four sons, James brn 1874 ( my rellie), John brn 1876, William 1878 and albert with no age. does that mean that william was under 1? i cannot see any occupation or other deatails for them. it would be great if you could check this for me. glaad to hear it's not just me! :)

thanks heather and wendy. heather, unfortunately i don't have the certificates to hand at the moment, i don't think he was in the army will have to check and let you know. Wendy, i know that Jane was born in Newton abbott, which is close to where their children were all born and she is on the 51,61 and 71 census but because i am not a member of ancestry i can't view the record to see who she is with.nice to see another fagan hunter. i found my mother's side of the family with no problems at all, it's the fagan's who are proving more difficult. thanks Leanne

Well if you cant find him on the 1871 and he married in 1873 the chances are he turned up during that period. Not a military man I take it - wouldnt have been in army during that time? Quite late to marry for a first time.

grt, grt, grt grandfather was Adam Fagan born in Newry/Leivey Ireland arnd.1837. from his marriage cert, i know his fathers name was either adam or adain (not sure, can't totally read the writing). I know that adam brn 1837 was in Pirbright, surrey, england by 1873 when he married Jane Underhill. his place of residence is the barracks. Many people have looked for him on 41,51,61 and 71 census' with no luck. i have also heard there are no passenger lists of those coming from ireland to england in that period. thought perhaps may have come over in famine. is there any other way i might find when he came to england or can i search for army records anywhere. am a relative amatuer and getting very frustrarted. any help would be appreciated.thanks leanne
