On the other hand, they've made those messages into threads, so you don't have to clutter up your Contacts with links to people you've just been offering ideas to, but stand almost no chance of becoming family links.

BUT

They still haven't sorted out the problem that the initial Surname summary, restricted to a limited number of days, has a different search algorithm from the results-list you get. I find it REALLY TEDIOUS (especially as I e-mailed them about this a long time ago) that it might look as if 88 (say) names have been loaded in the last day, but when you click on the list you might get only 14 - or none at all - along with an insulting (in the circumstances) message that "your" search has yielded no results.

They also can' t quite make up their minds whether the Back-button on Surname summary takes you back to the page you'd been looking at previously (conventional) or back to the Surname summary list (convenient if you've just waded through lots of pages and want to move on). I did suggest that a direct-jump button might be a useful extra option if the Back button were set to operate normally.

What is also too fussy is that each paragraph on the success board is headed "Joe Bloggs' Success Story" or whatever. It's unnecessary, too cluttered and what is especially annoying on these boards is that it includes the first few words of the post. If people want to read the post, they'll click on it.

I was just adjusting to the changes on Saturday when I got back of my holiday, then unfortunately I got a bug. This is the first day I've properly got out of bed - the last thing I want is to navigate my way round yet more changes.

I've just had a look on the Trying to Find board... I see what everyone means about the headers. As it stands it's almost useless, because you won't know what name is being looked for unless you open each one.

What a nightmare!

I agree with you Sue.

I am sure the way Genes advertises on TV makes new members think there are a big team of professionals just waiting to "find your family".

Instead they rely on fee paying members, who are getting more and more fed up as the changes go on and they don't seem to care when people point out valid problems on the site.

I think the 'new look' is just too busy and one improvement too far.

As a regular contributor to requests on the Trying to Find board, I doubt I will spending much time helping now. It was so easy to scroll down the board and quickly identify where I could possibly help. The only improvement it needed was an indicator to see if someone had already responded.

I don't think our opinions will change anything ......this is a commercial operation although it wouldn't be worth a penny if us fully paid up members didn't supply help and support that we do.
