Hi

Can anyone help me start the journey of tracing my husband's blood family

He was born on 9th March 1944 as Geoffrey King in, I believe, North London. His mother's name is thought to be Doris. His father was an American GI and, although his name may have been originally on the birth certificate, it is thought to have been removed. His mother already had two sons, Brain and Barry

He was given up for adoption at birth and was adopted through Barnados to a couple in East Sussex called Philpott. His name then changed to William Geoffrey Philpott

I have tried doing searches through the names of Doris, Barry and Brian King but to no avail

Do you have any tips?

Kind regards

Pauline

Does your husband have a copy of his birth certificate?
You need to establish his mother's name and maiden name.
A search of the birth registration lists in the March quarter 1944 shows Geoffreys born in Bromley, Edmonton and Hatfield.
In the following quarter...if birth was registered in April or later, ( quite possible) there are Geoffreys born in Middlesborogh, Braintree, Watford and Liverpool N.
Until you know which one it is, it is hard to search for siblings.

Has your husband seen his adoption file?
There should be some details there.
