Peter Titlow was supposed to have been born in Halifax West Yorkshire when I first started searching for him.
I rang the records office in Halifax and they told me I had to know which Parish he was born in as it would take a long time to search all the parishes for him.

So I googled his name and it came up that he had been in India in the Irish Fusiliers up to 1851 then he must have gone back to Ireland as a good friend from GR goes to Dublin regular and she had a look in the Dublin records office for Peter/Alicia marriage in 1860

There were 3 children born to Peter /Alice before they left Ireland

Peter born 1861
Mary T born 1862
Ellen born 1863.

Then comes the puzzle of Patrick Henry and James births in portsmouth.

Patrick Henry was using the name of Henry after dad died in 1888,so it is so confusing.

Yes that is my great grandma on the 1901 census.

Don't think her Hubby lived with her from before 1860 as when Peter and Alice were married he was an outside general labourer at the Chelsea Hospital London.goodness knows when he died.

ps thanks Christine, will ask on the records board for an Ancestry look up.

Jim

Thanks for the 1871 census, its a devil if Alice didn't register both the boys.

Christine

If the CRO did a search for the lads birth's would it be more than £60 as That is how much it would cost me to travel to Portsmouth on an OAP Railcard and thats without hotel as it would take nearly 6 1/2 hrs to travel to Portsmouth.
Couldn't do it in a day so would have to stop overnight.

I have looked through *find my past*,*freebmd* and someone on Records board looked for me.

I am looking for 2 births for my great uncles.
Their names are

Patrick Titlow born 1865

James Titlow born 1867
Both born in Portdmouth Hampshire.

On the 1881 Census they are both Coal miners living at 20 King Street,Chesterfield.

Will I have to travel to the records office in Portsmouth if there is one.
