Family Tree Maker 2008 - Has Anyone Tried the Free

What do people think of the new version of Family Tree Maker 2008? I have downloaded the free beta version and played about with it a bit, but there are a couple of things I am not happy with, maybe I am missing something!!

You cannot get the same charts as you can on the 2006 version, and I dont think I can get a full standard ancestor chart with everyone on from me upwards, only a pedigree.

The other thing I dont like is that the Family Fact Sheet on the version I have now lists all the years of birth, occupations and residences in each of the censuses I have them in, whereas the new version doesnt. This has been very helpful when taking the fact sheets with me when I go searching parish records, as I can see at a glance where they were, what they were doing and the range of birth years.

Maybe I am missing something, but if not it is a shame because I love the new layout and the new reports etc., but Family Fact Sheet is what I use most and would probably be lost without it.

What do others think about this new version. Hope someone has found something I have missed.

Well Ive pre ordered the UK version which I should be getting from twr computing in the next couple of weeks!

If you do a thread search there was a long thread about the 2008 on here recently.

You can also google search and bring up little videos teaching you how to use it!

Dont know if its going to be an improvement, I would have thought it will be as they have put a lot of effort into it over the last year or so. Ill wait and see:)

It's not released in the U.K. yet, it is on sale in America only, because we were Beta Testers we get a free copy of the program before it's released in this country so we will be one of the first to get it but we have not got it yet.

The Beta version did not have all the charts available there was only one that could be tested.

We'll post our comments here on the final version when we get it.

Thanks for replying, I am going to invest in the UK version when it becomes available, because as I say there are many new things and layouts that I think are better than the one I have. Look forward to trying the new full version when it comes out.

Thanks again
