How Can I do an Address Search for 1939

Hi, I am trying to find some details of a married couple. From their daughters birth cert, I have their address as of 1939. As I have no other way of finding out about them (no birth dates) I wondered if I could do an address search anyway to see if that gives me any more info on them?? Anybody know how/where I can do this?

Many Thanks

Georgina

You could check the electoral roll for that address in 1939, however this wouldn't give you their ages, but if they were listed you would know that they were over 21 and eligible to vote.

As you have both of their names you would be better off trying to find their marriage (if they were married) and this will give you an approximate age for them at marriage, and help you decide when they were born.

Hi Kath

Thank you very much. I will give both ideas a try - as I am at a total loss with this one at the mo!!

Thanks again

electoral rolls will only give the names of those eligable to vote,

you would be better searching for siblings through the gro birth index the years you are looking for give mmn so should not be to hard. and their marriage cert will help

Your best bet is to try to find their marriage.......at least the cert will say what they stated to be their ages, and the names and occupations of their fathers.

Finding them on an ER wouldn't tell you anything other than their names.........assuming they were both over 21........if not, they wouldn't even be on the register.

If you want to give the parent's names we could try to find the marriage.

Georgina,

This appears to be the same marriage as you are asking about on the Records Office board.

I've searched from 1936 to 1939 and they are not in those years.
