Hi John
IGI stands for international geneological index and the records on it are some of the most comprehensive you can find when doing famly histroy search having said that dont worry if you cant find someone yet as not all the records have been transcribed as you can apprieciate its a huge task. try your local family history centre they might be able to help if you do not live in the area then try seeing if there are any family history groups who might be able to help local knowledge is a wonderful thing and they are usually more than happy to give you the information for free
good luck

The IGI is the International Genealogical Index and can be found at www.familysearch.org

It has a lot of parish records, mainly baptisms and marriages but beware, some entries are 'member submissions' and have been submitted by anyone doing their family tree and may therefore be wrong. The 'extracted' records are the ones transcribed directly from the parish records.

Where is Charrington?
