I think I can see it now and it should be that my dad's cousin is my 2nd cousin. Their children are my 2nd cousins once removed.

Love it that I can now work out how close my GenesR cousins are.

Hi Christine

I've looked at your thread and worked out some of my family kinships which is great but I'm a bit confused by this one

"Your second cousin is your grandparents' brother's or sister's grandchild. That second cousin's child is your second cousin once removed, and his child is your second cousin twice removed, and so on."

What does that make my grandparents' brother or sister's child? This would be my father's first cousins.

I had no idea about cousins removed. Fascinating stuff

Ha! I thought I was right. Thanks so much for clearing that up.

I thought my grandmother's sister was my Great Aunt. I have been told this is wrong. In fact I was told there is no name to this relationship at all. So, does anyone know what relationship my grandmother's sister to me and what makes someone your great aunt/uncle?

Thanks
Cheryl
