http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maudland_Bridge_railway_station This gives a bit of info about where the name originates from, appaprently a variation on Magdalen. It's also a region in Preston.

Hi, I'd never heard of the name before, but on freebmd there are several Maudlands, mostly around the Preston area.
