Have you looked for him in a later census?
I'm fairly sure that one of mine was in America for the 1880 census there...but have no proof.
Perhaps your person's work took them away for a while.

What age was he stated as on the last census sighting and was that consistent with year birth, The only way you can narrow it down then would be by age.

I have the same problem with one of mine . he disappears between 1861 and 1871 . trouble is his age varies inconsistently so its not poss to tie it up . After buying two wrong certs I've given up and recorded his death as between 1861 and 1871,

Haven't a clue Shirley, he was born 1826 and I can keep tabs on him up until 1861 Census but then he vanishes.

depends when the death was its only since
June qtr of 1969 that they started putting the date of birth instead of the age on the records.

I have the DOB, Christening and marriage dates but when it comes to the death there are a number of possibilities. Can I narrow the numbers because I have the exact birth & marriage dates or will I have to send for every death cert. until I get the right one.
Thanks. inda
