On a map googled - creswell is near the worksop area of notts.

Hi Carol,
There is a Creswell very close to Notts, but actually classed as Derbyshire - must be right on the border.
Do you know when Herbert was born? I've had a look on 1901 census and there's a Herbert Cutts, age 9 (which would be about right) born in Eckington, Derbyshire - if you check on a map it's right next to where Creswell is. This may be your grandfather's dad.

Have you looked on FreeBMD for his birth registration?

Death certificates don't tell you where someone came from, only where they were living at the time of death.

please help my grandfather , s death cert says he came from creswell notts but i cannot find a creswell in notts he was born in 1914 november his name was george cutts father herbert where do i look?
