Hi Lesley,
Have looked through the complete indices from 1883 to 1891 and there is no marriage for Henry Botwood or Bottwood in Middlesex. Only one for a Henry is in Cardiff and wife is not Elizabeth Fox
Cheers Clare

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I have been trying to get somewhere on my grandad's mother's side. His parents were Henry Bottwood and Elizabeth Fox. They were both born about 1868 according to 1891 and 1901 census r 9but I cant find a marriage cert for them so I cant find Elizabeth's father.

Elizabeth says in the 1891 census that she was born in Lambeth and her age is given as 22 and Henry's as 23. I have found a family in Lambeth in 1871 which has Elizabeth Fox aged 3 living at 67 Park Street, Lambeth along with father John Fox 31 Bricklayer, mother Elizabeth 34, brother Frederick 4, and sister Jamica 8 months (on later censuses she is called Jemima). This seems to be the only Elizabeth Fox of about the right age I can find.

I have had contact with a few families who are related to this family, John's father was Matthew Fox 1813 and his father was John Fox 1777. If this is in fact my family I will have quite a big tree to add on to mine as the other families have done a lot of research on it but I dont want to jump the gun and adopt a family if its not mine.

I think the only way I think I can prove it is if I can find a marriage cert for Henry and Elizabeth and get her father's name.

I have found on the Free BMD pages births for Frederick, Elizabeth Lucy, and Jemima all in Lambeth and the right years but although these are most probably the ones in the census it doesnt mean the Elizabeth is my one.

My Dad said may be they didnt marry and thats why I cant find the register for it.

By the way, on my Grandad's marriage cert Henry is known as Henry Elijah Bottwood, I know he had a son with this middle name too.

Thanks a lot

Les
