its ok sarah just read all the threads for newbies and you will see how it all works. there is no magical solution and it often takes a long time to find the info that you need. but start at the beginning with your parents and work backwards once you have someone who was alive when the 1901 census was taken then it might and i say might start to get a bit easier. people on here are fabulous and they have helped me out hundreds of times when i have been stuck but you have to get all your facts and info sorted first. please dont hesitate to ask but read up first then come back to us with all the info if you are stuck. make use of all the free sites i will see if i can find the postings for newbies and nudge them up for you

You don't have to say sorry. Everyone has to start somewhere and it can be very confusing at first. Ask as many questions as you need to. It's the best way to learn and there are lovely people on this site who will go out of their way to help you. Reading the threads for newbies is very helpful too.

Cheers

Deb:)

Dont say sorry we all have been on the 'learning curve' and the best thing about GR is the number of nice people who are always willing to help when they can

The apology though not necessary, is much appreciated Sarah - we get lots of people on here who dont even have the courtesy to thank people for spending time and sometimes money to look up info for them. So be assured, you are definitely not in the naughty corner :)

Take in all the information on the threads for new members and you will soon be whizzing along finding your own research results - the most exciting thing ever!

I agree with everyone here, Sarah. Count yourself told off for apologising! :-)

Seriously, as has already been said, we've all had to start somewhere. And, I have to confess, I haven't replied to a query I received the other day from a GR member! Oops. Should know better really, as I've been a member here since January 2004. Will do that in a min.

Take care, and good luck!

I too would like to say sorry to anyone on here that I may have offended or annoyed with all my asks for help.I have been truely amazed by the willingness of everyone on here to help people who are just starting out ,myself being one of them.I wouldn't have found half the people that I have without your help and I am truely grateful.I do always try to say thanks at the time but incase I ever missed anyone I would like to say it now.THANKYOU ALL.

Lesley & Leanne
You dont have to apologise for asking for look ups. If people do the look up its because they want to!!.

If i felt that someone was taking the P and wanting others to do their research for them then I would stop looking , simple as that

I enjoy the challenge because my research has stalled now to parish records.

Thank you shirley. It's nice to know that we don't have to feel guilty about asking for help.I'm afraid only to often I get stuck and can't find someone and I ask on here and lo and behold 10 mins later that person is found.I don't know how you do it but it is greatly needed and apreciated.
