Hope this helps.

Hi Janie
I kept thinking I know that name Ronald Yates... that's because I've already done an electoral roll search for you (I've done a few so you'll have to excuse me being a bit thick :-)
You've obviously had no luck with the names I gave you.
Good Luck with your search. Hope others can help.
Cheers Gerry

Hi,

Like Gerry I am a little confused with the dates you have given us. Can you tell us why you think he came to NSW, and did he come with his wife &/or family in 1960s.

I this is the death certificate you ordered from NSW ?

5580/1973 YATES RONALD
Both parents listed as UNKNOWN UNKNOWN District SYDNEY

Although this death certificate does not state his parents names, it should list his spouse's name, is it the right one?

The only Ronald Yates I could find on the National Archive website (1955- 1975) was a Ronald Vincent Yates departing UK July 1963. However this person's dob is 24/7/1931.

YATES Vincent Ronald born 24 July 1931; Joan Mavis (nee Simpson) born 3 July 1934; Ronald Denis born 12 June 1953; Susan born 22 June 1955; travelled per aircraft departing UK on July 1963 under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme
Series number
A1877 Control symbol
JULY 1963 YATES V R Contents date range
1962 - 1963

If you could give us a bit more background info that would be great.

bye Helen

You mean the Korean war, don't you? Shell shock wasn't even part of the vocabulary at the time of the Crimean war!

Hi Gordie
Are your dates correct? The Crimean War was 1853-1856 but you say Ronald was born in 1930.
If he was born in 1930 he's likely to still be alive and could be living anywhere in Australia.
I'd offer to check the electoral rolls for you but with a popular name like Ronald Yates there will be many.
Do you have a middle name for him to narrow the search down... does he have any children that you know off?
Cheers Gerry
