Hi Paul, yes thats right. These 2 soldiers are from different sides of my family. They were in the same division so do you think it is likely they would have known each other?

I notice the date - it was the first day of the battle of the Somme, the biggest single day's loss of life in British military history.

Hello all, thanks for the replies.

Hi Deb,that would be great if you wouldn't mind.

If it isn't being too cheeky, I have two!!

The first one is William Blackburn, died on 1st July 1916, commemorated at Thiepval. His soldier number was 26640 and he was in the Lancashire Fusiliers.

The second one is John Prince who also died on 1st July 1916 and is commemorated at Thiepval. His solider number was 10345. He was also in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Obviously Deb, if you have to pay for them, then ignore my request!!

Overseas army deaths are on the findmypast website (pay per view). They may also be on familyrelatives site.

Hi, I have a solider killed in World War 1. Would his death appear in the normal BMD's? If so, he died on 1st July 1916, when would he be likely to be registered? I found his details on the CWGC.

Any help gratefully received.
